Three years ago, I founded a program to amplify the voices of queer and trans students of color, called Lavish. In the process, 25 students received mentorship from local artists to create visual and performance art that tells their personal narrative. Most of the participants had never performed or shown their work in public before, leading to invaluable experience cultivating themselves as artists. The participants and the show have grown so much over the years that the production was led by students this year! Check out the article about their exceptional showcase!
